Live the Blessings of Baptism

Salibonani! Lingani? lol I’m getting there…

We had a great week last week! I am loving Mzilikazi. The area has been so fruitful and our teaching pool grows more and more each day!!

We were able to teach Babongile during the week so she could be baptized Saturday along with Donald! She was SO excited to be baptized and she LOVES church and primary! So much so that she has been such a shining example to her family. We have been teaching her mother, Sandra, who since we have been seeing her, has started praying for the first time in 12 years. She loves learning about the gospel and has been reading the Book of Mormon a lot! She says she wants to have read it all by next week! She even came to Babongile’s baptism with her mother. We are so excited for her to be baptized.

I love being able to share this beautiful message of the gospel with people every day and helping them prepare to make and keep sacred covenants like baptism and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. I love the analogy the Elder Bednar gave last General Conference:
yes-that-is-a-pig-we-chased-down
“Consider how a farmer depends upon the unchanging pattern of planting and harvesting. Understanding the connection between sowing and reaping is a constant source of purpose and influences all of the decisions and actions a farmer undertakes in all seasons of the year. In like manner, the inseparable connection between the ordinances of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins and the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost should impact every aspect of our discipleship in all seasons of our lives.”

Baptism is the beginning of a new and wonderful life! We should never forget the covenants we made when we were baptized!

I love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!

Baptism!
Yes… that is a pig. we chased down this tiny truck that had two huge pigs in it and when we found it again, the pig had gotten out somehow. I love Zimbabwe.

Wanting to be Bapateezed

Salibonani!

Things have been fun and the area has been fun and the people we are teaching are powerful.

We have Donald who hopefully will be baptized this week.. he said he wanted to be this week, so hopefully we will find him this week to teach him the last lessons and he comes to the baptism! He comes to church every week but I’ve never actually taught him, it was when Sister Smith was here, but he’s basically a member, he just needs to enter the waters of baptism asap. Because whenever we try to see him he’s not around… so hopefully this week is it!

Esebel is set to be baptized, it’s just the marriage thing. Her and her “husband” are just staying together for the sake of accommodations and she’s looking for a job right now and she might have just found a hook up for a place to stay, so they are having a meeting about it today and we will see her tomorrow to see what the conclusion is!

And we are going to baptize an 11 year old girl named Babongile who has been coming to church with her friends, we just have to hurry and teach her so she can get baptized! and we visited her family yesterday and are going to teach her mother too who seems super interested!

Then there are 2 other girls who have been coming to church that we are going to start teaching this week! People here just show up at church and it is so great because it gives us all these people to teach!!

Then Brother Peter, the 91 year old, talks about how he wants to be “bapateezed” and stuff which is super great and we want to baptize him so bad! But teaching him is hard… because he is so Roman Catholic… and has lots of funny things haha but we love him so much. He is our grandpa haha. 91 year old investigator, Brother PeterWe found him the other day laying outside on a tiny little bench lol he is quite the character! He wasn’t feeling well the other day and it had been going on for a while and we were super worried about him so we lined up for one of the members to give him a priesthood blessing and he has been doing much better ever since! And we taught him how to fist bump and he asked what it means yesterday and we told him it means power! haha

Those are the main people that we have been focusing on lately… things are going well!

A scripture that I studied this week was Doctrine and Covenants 52:15-17. It was talked about in zone meeting on what kind of a missionary we should be, but it not only applies to missionaries, but to everyone of us! And as we strive to have these qualities, the promise in verse 17 will be made manifest and we will be blessed so much!

Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!

We Are Never Alone

Hello all!

This week was a good week!
We were able to visit one guy named Peter who has been coming to church for quite a few weeks now. He is 91 years old and is a hardcore Roman Catholic. He has grey hair that sticks out like Albert Einstein and always has a Chastity pamphlet in his shirt pocket that we don’t even know where he got haha. He is quite the character and we are hoping to be able to teach him and help him progress!
Shyline is so ready for her baptism this Saturday! Every time we visited her she would be anxiously waiting for the next thing we would give her to read. It seemed like the happiest day of her life when we gave her the Book of Mormon!
The other day, I was searching for a particular scripture for forever without any luck, then while we were in a lesson with a part less active family, something the mother was talking about reminded me of that scripture again and I opened my scriptures and found it right away! It was Alma 36:3 “…I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day.”
I love this scripture and know it is true from experience! We will always experience challenges and hard times in our lives, but if we put our trust in God, everything will be ok! I love what Elder Bednar says: “We are not and never need be alone. We can press forward in our daily lives with heavenly help.”
Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Salibonani!

Salibonani my friends and family.

Bulawayo has been great so far! I was sick all week though so we weren’t able to go to the area much, but we did get to visit the creepy hospital a couple times, so that was an experience..
Our area is called Mzilikazi and the branch is great. They hold sacrament meeting in a big tent, which is kind of cool haha and the other sisters had a baptism that we got to go see. Yesterday at the branch, a return missionary who served here a couple years ago was visiting with his wife and family from the states, so it was cool to see them and the happy reunions with the people he had taught.
Sister MpiyakeSister Mpiyake and I had a cool experience yesterday while we were in the area.. While we were walking to an appointment, there was an older woman walking by us holding a heavy bag, so we asked if we could help her carry it and we walked with her to where she was going and helped her find it and everything. She was visiting for a couple days from the UK and had seen missionaries before, so she recognized us. She was so happy and told us how much we had helped her when we got to where she was going. It felt so good to make someone’s day so much better just by doing such a small act of service. I love Mosiah 2:17.. Look for opportunities to serve every day. None of us have an excuse not to serve. Even the smallest-seeming thinks like a smile can make a whole day, month, or year.
Love you all! Thanks for all the emails, I love hearing from all of you.
Have a great week!

New apartment in Bulawayo.

Bulawayo Arrival

Am in Bulawayo now! The bus ride was long, but good! I mostly slept. Sister Mpiyakhe live alone in our apartment and it’s a cute little place! District meeting today was fun seeing Elder Scoresby and Silotile. It will be fun with them. Tomorrow I think we will have to stay in the house because of riots… I guess there are a lot of riots that happen here and there are right near/in our area. Pretty exciting! Am feeling a bit better today… I think I am just super dehydrated now… I miss Kuwadzana and being in Harare, but I’m excited to get to know the area and the people! Looking forward to loving it here just as much.

Love you guys! Have a great week.
